5X - UR 5X RU (2006), Full Album George Azuma ラウドネス Loudness

5X is a legendary cult band from Japan that released 2 excellent studio albums and a live album in the period 1981-1983. However, in 2006 they made another album with another singer, which I think is the best metal album of the past 25 years! In the early 1980s, Carmen Maki sang at 5X. However, in 2006 the band was revived by bandleader and guitarist George Azuma. With veteran Kinta Moriyama (bass) he recruited old Anthem drummer Mad Ohuchi and the young singer Miwa Saita and the result is a really good metal album with songs that are written a bit in the old hard rock style. That means no forced new influences from now on but a traditional hard rock record in which the high level of the compositions stands out. Miwa's voice is especially striking, with a lot of power (doesn't sound thin) and very clean. This is especially evident in the best song of the album Stars in Your Eyes #2. No speed, thrash black or nu-metal, no, just an old-fashioned good hard rock record with the production resources of today (the CD is also very well produced). Up-tempo songs alternate with ballads and mid-tempo songs, but the singer really demands all the attention with her voice. Also very hard to get this album (could only find it once at a Japanese online store). There is also a DVD with them where they play some songs from this album live..... However, this album is almost impossible to get in 2022, every now and then I see it for sale for ridiculously high prices on Japanese sites.
