કડી (Kadi) એ ગુજરાતનું એક ઐતિહાસિક અને આર્થિક રીતે સમૃદ્ધ નગર છે. તેને ગુજરાતનું 'કોટન સિટી' તરીકે પણ ઓળખવામાં આવે છે. અહીં તેના ઇતિહાસ, ઉદ્યોગ અને જોવાલાયક સ્થળોની વિગતવાર માહિતી આપી છે: કડીનું પ્રાચીન નામ 'કટિપુર' અથવા 'કટિયાપુર' હતું. ૧૭૩૦ની આસપાસ, પીલાજીરાવ ગાયકવાડે મુગલો પાસેથી કડી જીતી લીધું હતું. ત્યારબાદ તે લાંબા સમય સુધી ગાયકવાડ શાસન હેઠળ વડોદરા રાજ્યનું ઉત્તર ગુજરાતનું વહીવટી મથક રહ્યું હતું. કડી દંઢાવ્ય, ચુંવાળ અને ખાખરિયા ટપ્પા જેવા ત્રણ અલગ ભૌગોલિક વિસ્તારોને જોડતી 'કડી' (લિંક) હોવાથી તેનું નામ 'કડી' પડ્યું હોવાનું મનાય છે. કડી તેના મજબૂત ઔદ્યોગિક માળખા માટે જાણીતું છે: કડીમાં આશરે ૧૦૦થી વધુ કોટન જિનિંગ (રૂ) ફેક્ટરીઓ આવેલી છે, જે તેને એશિયાના સૌથી મોટા કોટન માર્કેટ્સમાંનું એક બનાવે છે. અહીં કપાસિયા તેલ (Cottonseed Oil) રિફાઇનરીઓનો મોટો ઉદ્યોગ વિકસ્યો છે. અહીં સિરામિક, પેકેજિંગ અને ફાર્માસ્યુટિકલ કંપનીઓ પણ મોટી સંખ્યામાં છે. મેલડી માતાનું મંદિર: આ મંદિર કડીના કિલ્લાના સાતમા માળે આવેલું છે, જેની સાથે રાજા મલ્હારરાવની લોકકથા જોડાયેલી છે. થોળ પક્ષી અભયારણ્ય: કડીથી આશરે ૨૨ કિમી દૂર આવેલું આ સરોવર શિયાળામાં દેશ-વિદેશના પક્ષીઓનું ઘર બને છે અને પર્યટકોનું માનીતું સ્થળ છે. ઐતિહાસિક કિલ્લો: મલ્હારરાવ ગાયકવાડ દ્વારા બંધાયેલો કિલ્લો આજે પણ શહેરની શાન ગણાય છે. સર્વ વિદ્યાલય કેળવણી મંડળ: આ ટ્રસ્ટ ૧૯૧૯થી કાર્યરત છે અને અહીં S.V. Campus હેઠળ મેનેજમેન્ટ, એન્જિનિયરિંગ અને આઈટી જેવી અનેક કોલેજો આવેલી છે. કડી સર્વ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય: આ યુનિવર્સિટી દ્વારા ઉચ્ચ શિક્ષણના વિવિધ અભ્યાસક્રમો ચલાવવામાં આવે છે. કડી શહેર અમદાવાદથી લગભગ ૫૦ કિમી અને મહેસાણાથી ૪૦ કિમી દૂર આવેલું છે, જે રોડ અને રેલવે માર્ગે સારી રીતે જોડાયેલું છે Kadi is a prominent town and taluka headquarters located in the Mehsana district of Gujarat.
