I've recently rediscovered my childhood doll and teddy. My doll is in need of a good bath and some serious TLC. I've done quite a bit of research (YouTube, Google & Pinterest) and I think I've found out a bit about her and how to go about the renovation but I would really like your input before I go ahead so please please please let me know in the comments everything you know about dolls and doll renovation. I would also be really interested to hear about your childhood dolls and whether you still have them!
She has a 'Made in England' mark on her back but no labels on any other part of her body. I think she is a 1960s Palitoy Petalskin doll as she has quite soft skin like plastic on her face and arms although her body and legs are just the usual hard plastic. She is a 'child doll' and I think her hair might be Saran. She is a bit bald in places but I am hoping to cover that with a bit of clever hair styling. Her blinking eyes seem to be known as 'sleeping eyes'. They still work well and are not sticking but she is missing a few eye lashes. I think her limbs are just pushed in rather than being connected with elastic or anything like that.
I will be doing the cleaning and hair video next and then possibly another where I make her a little outfit so follow along for the full renovation!
