Thessaloniki 2026

Just walking around the town of Thessaloniki. It was our first time there and we really loved it. We plan on going back. It is a lovely place to walk and enjoy the many sights. So many shops, coffee shops, open markets. Just a fun place with a lot of character. We were driving up from Athens and had a problem with the car and the car had to be towed to the town of Katerini and the tow truck driver dropped us off at the bus station and we were lucky to catch the last bus for the evening to Thessaloniki. We had to switch to a local bus that dropped us off less that 5 minutes from our hotel. the Hotel we stayed at was called the Bahar. Very cute in the heart of the town. I have to say if you are looking to stay in Thessaloniki I highly recommend this place. They had the best breakfast I think of almost any hotel. Omelletes, Pancakes along with the usuall breakfast items. We got lucky with the weather the few days we were in the area. We went to the town of Pozar that has the hot springs and the town of Adessa. the area was filled with blossoms from the trees I think cherry and peach and apples. Also close to Thessaloniki is Litochori near the hiking trails of Mount Olymbos and the area of Thermopoli were the historic battle of 300 took place.
