THE STORY BEHIND THE LYRICS: Mother-daughter wedding dance songs have rapidly become a cherished trend for modern marriages. While it wasn't a moment I personally experienced on the floor with my own mother, I completely understand why honoring this unique bond is so essential. Whether it is an actual dance, a special song playing for a quiet moment, or part of the overarching wedding day music, it completes the full emotional story of a daughter’s life with her parents. Brides usually want to honor both parents. A song dedicated to the mother and daughter provides a balanced counterpart to the traditional father-daughter dance. That’s the primary reason I wanted to include it. I've written numerous story lyrics for weddings covering various relationships. However, this is my first dedication to the love and the feeling between a mother and a daughter. In writing these lyrics, I decided that I wanted to tell the story of the intense personal love that the mother feels for the daughter. It does not go into a lifetime of accomplishments or where her future is headed. Much like my mother-son wedding dance song, The Child, The Boy, The Man, I wanted it to remain a moment where the mother expresses to her daughter how deeply loved she is.
