I Cruciform Bayonet manufactured between 1941 - 1942 No. 4 Mk. II Spike Bayonet made between 1942 - 1944 No. 4 Mk. II* Milled body welded to a spike bayonet made between 1942 - 1945 No. 4 Mk. III Sheet metal welded manufacture ceased in 1946 (last iteration of the No4 bayonet) A very FUGLY bayonet.... In this video we briefly talk about some history, perform a tear down and talk about maintenance of the No4 Spike Bayonet. Also affix the bayonet to a No4Mk2 Lee Enfield rifle for your enjoyment. Another technical lee enfield video. I used to think that the No4 series of Lee Enfield bayonets were garbage. At the time I was uneducated and ignorant. In many respects a spike bayonet has just as many non-combat related uses as a sword bayonet. However in combat I shiver at the thought of the lee enfield spike bayonet. Much easier to withdraw from an enemy combatant, much lighter to carry or wield and a good way to get into your tin of bully beef or open a bottle of beer. A piece of Commonwealth history that we often neglect or consider. Behold the No4 spike bayonet.
