The shocking and very weird facts and goofs from the Captain America 1944 movie serial starring Dick Purcell as the then Timely Comics biggest superhero. Timely would later become Marvel Comics. The serial features strange goofs such as using obvious dummies for falls where as later movies would more often use stunt men or other effects. The biggest goof was the use of an existing script and completely ignoring who the comic book version of Captain America was. Gone was many of the things Cap was known for including his shield. Dick Purcell was deemed overweight and not fit enough for the part, at least by film historians which could have been a factor in the tragedy to come shortly after filming was completed. The serial had a lot of great miniature model work for explosive special effects done by the Lydecker brothers. These models had a lot of extensive detail which made the scenes appear realistic as some more modern effects. #captainamerica #1940s #oldmovies #superheroes 0:00 Intro 0:25 The Serial was different than the comic book version 1:32 The Dummies used for falls 2:42 The toy miniature models used for special effects 3:47 Cap's Shield is Missing! 5:00 John Hamilton actor who played Perry White from Superman 5:25 Timely Comics complains to Republic 6:22 Dick Purcell's heart attack 8:21 The Stuntman Dale Van Sickle 8:51 The Serial becomes part of Marvel Comics continuity 9:25 Conclusion
