Vijay’s First Foreign Trip As Tamil Nadu CM | London Visit Focuses On Investments | News9 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to leave for London tonight on his first official foreign trip since taking charge. Vijay will travel from Chennai via Dubai and is expected to stay in the UK for nearly a week before returning on September 17. The visit will focus primarily on attracting investments, with Vijay expected to meet entrepreneurs, investors and representatives of major companies and showcase Tamil Nadu as a destination for manufacturing, technology and emerging industries. The state government is seeking to convert investor interest into concrete investment commitments after recently signing MoUs with 97 companies involving proposed investments worth more than Rs 67,000 crore. Vijay’s government has also set an ambitious target of taking Tamil Nadu’s economy to $1.5 trillion by 2036. The Chief Minister is also expected to visit motorsport facilities and a racing circuit in London, following his Assembly announcement about establishing a modern motorsport city in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the London trip comes amid a political controversy involving Vijay’s recent remarks on alleged derogatory comments targeting women and the wider row surrounding DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin and actor Trisha Krishnan.
