Collisions and derailment Voorschoten

During the early hours of 4 April 2023 at 3.23 a.m., a freight train collided with a road-rail excavator near Voorschoten railway station. At the time of the collision, the excavator was located on an in-service track on which the freight train was running. The Dutch Safety Board has been unable to determine the direct cause of the accident. On the basis of accident analysis, however, the Board has identified the factors that contributed or may have contributed to the occurrence of this railway accident.
