Coaster F59PHI 3002 Is Back! EMD 12-710 Engine Sound 🎤 + 90 MPH Ride 🚄💨

2/1/22, 2/2/22: It's almost surreal that the F59PHI's are back in service! I haven't railfanned in a while, but as soon as I found out, I hauled ass to Solana Beach after work to catch one! I got there right as 3002 was pulling in ⏰👏💯, and ended up doing a full round trip! Check out these highlights! As 2-stroke EMD power has gotten rare in CA in the past couple years, I sat in the first coach to capture some engine audio 🚄🎤! Our engineer also wasted no time, going faster than usual in most parts, and reaching the top speed of 90 mph! (I know the video shows 89, but my GPS app showed 90 while recording... it saves ±1 sometimes!) It's a huge relief to ride behind one of these BEAST locomotives (at least) one last time! I still remember first seeing F59PHI's, on an elementary school field trip... man I'm getting old lol! The next day, 3002 returns to Sorrento Valley, providing some additional exterior footage!
