Joehan's HAST Offer: Fort Street Year 11 Entry | Selective Success Academy

🎓 Joehan's HAST offer to Fort Street High School, Year 11 entry 🎓 Joehan sat the HAST in Year 9 and missed out. A year later he sat it again for Fort Street High School and finished in the top 10% overall, with Reading and Written Expression also in the top 10% (his HAST report, August 2026). After an interview with the principal, he was offered a place for Year 11. He found SSA through a video on Instagram from Ilia, our Head Tutor, who made the same move himself: he transferred into North Sydney Boys in Year 11, graduated Dux with a 99.90 ATAR and now studies Medicine at UNSW. Reading was one of Joehan's lowest sections when he started. Lesson booklets, term exams and holiday mock exams with detailed feedback reports showed him exactly which skills and question types to work on, and the longer mock exam passages built up his reading speed. 🎥 In this video, Joehan talks about: ✅ Being offered a place in his interview with the principal, and celebrating with his family ✅ Missing out in Year 9, and finding SSA through Instagram ✅ Why understanding the concepts beat spamming practice questions ✅ How the lesson booklets, term exams and holiday mock exams helped ✅ Mock exam feedback reports that were very close to his real HAST results ✅ How his reading improved the most ✅ Keeping a journal of every mistake, and focusing on skills rather than questions ✅ Catching up from recordings when live classes clashed with his extracurriculars ✅ Recovering from a mistake on his answer sheet during the real exam ✅ His advice: start early, because the HAST has hundreds of skills to master 🏆 Results 🏆 80+ selective school offers 🏆 Year 8 to 11 offers to Normanhurst Boys, Sydney Boys, North Sydney Boys, James Ruse, Baulkham Hills, North Sydney Girls, Sydney Girls, Hurlstone Agricultural, Caringbah, Fort Street, Girraween, Penrith, Sydney Technical, St George Girls, Manly Selective Campus, Chatswood, Hornsby Girls, Gosford and Macquarie Fields 🏆 5/5 from 50+ Google reviews ⏱️ Chapters 0:00 Joehan's HAST offer 0:23 What happened when you found out? 1:00 What was your journey like? 2:14 Why did you want a selective school? 3:09 What changed between Year 9 and Year 10? 3:42 How did our materials help you? 4:44 How did we support you? 5:44 What did the mock exam reports show you? 6:38 How was it different from studying alone? 7:30 How did our mocks compare with the real HAST? 8:10 Where did you improve the most? 8:49 Did the mocks help with nerves and timing? 9:36 What made the biggest difference? 10:22 How did you work out what to study? 10:49 Why Fort Street? 11:31 What was the hardest part of the exam? 12:27 Did the science-style maths questions help? 13:12 What would you do differently? 13:44 What if you couldn't make the live classes? 14:28 What advice would you give younger students? 15:01 Why start early? 15:48 Who would you like to thank? 📚 How the program works ✅ 10 weekly online lessons, 2 hours each, with timed practice ✅ Lesson recordings, so a class you miss is never lost ✅ Lesson and homework booklets written for the HAST ✅ A full-length mock exam with detailed feedback ✅ Small classes, so every student is seen ✅ Messaging support between lessons 📈 Joehan missed out in Year 9.
