Jingle. The little bell above the door of the five and dime. In this nostalgic trip down memory lane we walk aisle by aisle through a 1960s five and dime: the mechanical horse, the popcorn counter, penny candy, the lunch counter, the comic book rack, the record counter and the photo booth.
If you grew up in the 60s, the five and dime on Main Street was a world of its own. We remember fifteen forgotten things you could find there, and the small moments that made every visit feel special. The last one is a memory many baby boomers still keep close.
What was the first thing you ever bought with your own money at the five and dime? Tell us in the comments, and take another walk down memory lane with us.
