NIGERIA TO MISS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE MEN’S U-17 WORLD CUP

Golden Eaglets, Nigeria’s Under-17 national team, have crashed out of the ongoing WAFU-B U17 championship in Burkina Faso on Saturday. The Eaglets drew 1-1 with Cote d’Ivoire in their final game and finished bottom of the group. Nigeria earlier lost to Niger Republic in their opening game on Wednesday. The result means the Golden Eaglets will miss the 2027 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Morocco. The U-17 AFCON serves as the qualifier for the age-grade World Cup. Consequently, Nigeria will also miss the World Cup for the fourth consecutive time. Nigeria, the most successful country at the men’s U-17 World Cup with five titles, last featured in the competition in 2019.
