I remember playing the very first Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 64 and had a blast playing the popular sport with Mario and all his friends. The series has come a long way since then and each new title introduced new gameplay and mechanics. With Mario Tennis Fever the series finally heads to the Switch 2 and offers a massive roster of characters to choose from. There is a lot of content here including an actual story mode where you play as Baby Mario and need to attend a Tennis Academy to learn all the tricks of the sport again in order to participate in a tournament and break the curse that made you turn into a baby. The story mode is very charming as you have a hub area to explore and many different mini games to partake in. The stages are colorful and vibrant and they make good use of the different smashing techniques during the minigames that you need to use in the regular tennis matches. The big gimmick in this game are the special tennis rackets that alter the court by adding fire, electricity, ice and more on the ground. This obscures the player from heading into certain sections of the playing field and this can be used to great advantage.
