MI Bell| CFNR 500 Cortena Job South - Struckmeyer Rd. Railroad Crossing, Arbuckle CA

Aug 2, 2024 10:20am After catching back up with the train, the next crossing that was a viable distance from it after passing was this crossing and as I came here discovered that the bell was an Modern Industries Mechanical Bell in which I took my chance to film from what is the private side of this crossing and luckily didn't get messed with. I wanted to have a close to MI Bell video on this crossings first video. This crossing is an SP install from the mid to late 80s when they used MI Signals with WABCO Modal 75 Mechanisms. Fun fact, on the SACRT system in Sacramento, these were once common along the now Gold Line from the 54th St crossing to Mayhew Rd from the late 80s to late 1990s BUT just imagin the only difference then were that their were incandescent lights and gate lights both 4 inch and 7 inch and fiber glass gates. SACRT didn't own the signals of course SP did as the crossings back then of SACRT & SP were jointly owned along a spur and alao along the Placerville so SP maintained their sides and SACRT maintained their sides. A lot of these MI signals still exist today on the SACRT system but are all heavily updated or replaced due to other SACRT projects in the past that occured after the late 1990s.
