Tyneham's Backyard

Wobarrow Bay is one of my favourite places on the Dorset coast. There is a streak of turquoise in the water which you would typically associate with the Mediterranean. And if you pick the right time of the year, the clifftop meadows are decorated with wildflowers of many shapes and colours. Just imagine living so close to this spectacular place and then being asked to leave? Well, the folks who once lived in Tyneham had to abandon this village in 1943. They did this out of patriotism, but the fact that they were never allowed to return casts a shadow of sadness over this idyllic location.
