A Promise to Rebuild: How CRC Helped HVAF of Indiana Rise from Tragedy to Serve More Veterans

After a devastating fire displaced 48 veterans from Manchester Apartments, HVAF of Indiana faced the challenge of rebuilding one of its most important housing facilities. CRC worked alongside HVAF to restore the historic building, address extensive fire, smoke, and water damage, and help bring veterans back home. But the project became about more than restoring what was lost. The reconstruction created additional housing, added ADA-accessible units, and expanded the pantry—giving HVAF the ability to serve even more veterans and families in need. In this documentary-style story, HVAF leaders, CRC team members, and a Manchester Apartments resident share what happened, what it took to rebuild, and what the restored facility means for the veterans who call it home.
