Trip to Opotiki on the East Coast of New Zealand. October 2026

Flew down to Opotiki for a BBQ lunch with 30 other aircraft. Into a grass airstrip with a bit of crosswind. Past by alongside Tauranga Airport and Whakatane airport . This airfield was established in 1937 to serve the East Coast of New Zealand and through to Auckland on #Union Airways. The service never continued after WW2.
