The Life of Hezekiah: Spiritual Warfare & Trusting in the Lord | 30th August 2026 | Martin Obono

On this Lord’s Day, we examined spiritual warfare through the life of King Hezekiah in 2 Kings 18:13–37, considering the ways the enemy seeks to lead God’s people away from their loyalty to Him. Spiritual warfare was presented as a battle against the mind, in which the enemy seeks to deceive us and draw us away from trusting God. Through Hezekiah’s encounter with the Assyrian army, we saw how the enemy attacks through self-sufficiency, distortion of God’s Word, fear of suffering, distraction, and counterfeit promises. Pastor Martin reminded us that “if you do not know your inheritance in Christ, the devil will deceive you with a counterfeit.” We were reminded that the enemy is relentless and that suffering is an inevitable part of the Christian life. Our hope is not in our ability to negotiate with or overcome evil, but in unwavering trust in God, who fights for, protects, and ultimately defeats evil on behalf of His people.
