40 km/h average. A fast-moving group of cyclists. And absolutely no time to worry about camera angles.
I've been riding this Monday evening drop ride for years. It's one of the fastest group rides I've experienced in Germany, and for a long time, I've wanted to show what it actually feels like to be right in the middle of it.
The problem? Filming at these speeds isn't exactly easy. Or particularly safe when you need both hands on the bars.
So I brought the new DJI Osmo 360 II along to see if I could finally capture the whole experience without having to think about framing while riding:
You'll see:
• What riding in a 40 km/h average group actually looks like
• How I use the DJI Osmo 360 II to capture cycling footage
• Why filming in 360° changes the way I approach bike videos
• How I reframe footage and create different camera angles after the ride
• Real-world image quality and stabilization while cycling
• How the camera handles movement and changing lighting conditions
• The replaceable lens design and why it matters for an action camera
• My experience using the camera on a genuinely fast group ride
• Whether a 360 camera makes sense for cycling content creators
