Homemade solar Beeswax melter | Kenyan Top Bar Hive Management

If you don't know what to do with your old brood comb, how about this... Check out my homemade wax melter I made with some scrap timber from my Kenyan top bar hives, a steel tray and a sheet of glass I had lying around. I chuck the brood comb into the wax melter, leave it out in the sun, and it doesn't take long before I get a good amount of beeswax out of it. You can use the wax to wax top bars, or trade it with a friend who can use it to make lip and body balms - because of our location it's pesticide free. My kids also use it to make wax candles around Christmas time for gifts to their teachers and friends. Absolutely beautiful stuff. Happy Beekeeping!
