Swarajathi Sri Rāmābhi Rāma Hamsadhwani Raga , Ādi TāLa, Mysore Sadashivarao Composition

Swarajathi's are beautiful taut compositions in music, where the notes have associated padas words and the lilt is synchronised. This is a challenge in dance because we need space between words to be able to find the time to explain and express it. To achieve this space, I worked with the wonderful vocalist Balasubramanya Sharma to bring the 'Saaki' effect as it is called, to elaborate on the poetry and then bring the lilt back.
