1961: Heelan 48, Lincoln Pius X 25 (1st Half)

This video features first-half action from Heelan High's 1961 Homecoming game against Lincoln Pius X at Memorial Field. The Crusaders built a narrow 19–18 halftime lead in a back-and-forth contest, highlighted by Denny Conway's explosive touchdown runs of 64 yards and 2 yards. With both teams trading scores throughout the opening half, the game remained very much in doubt as the teams headed to the locker room. The future 1961 State Champions took complete control after halftime, pulling away for a 48–25 victory. Conway added two more touchdown runs of 4 and 80 yards, while quarterback Hettinger threw touchdown passes to Keith Boden (30 yards) and Mike Grace (33 yards). Jim Slattery converted both extra points, and Lincoln Pius X was held to a single fourth-quarter touchdown as the Crusaders capped off a memorable Homecoming win.
