In Part 2 of this series I pull the M20 motor from the E30 in preparation for some much needed maintenance. It was my first time pulling a motor, and was certainly a long process, but was definitely worth it when we finally got it out. There are many ways to extract the motor. I used an engine hoist to lift it from above and pulled the transmission out along with it. There's no real particular order in which you need to perform each step as I was learning on the fly how to disconnect and remove various parts for the extraction. 0:00 Intro 0:40 Step 1 - Remove battery 0:50 Step 2- Drain radiator 1:15 Step 3 -Remove intake 1:40 Step 4 -Remove hood 3:24 Step 5 - Remove throttle body 4:06 Step 6 - Remove radiator 4:37 Step 7 - Disconnect AC and oil cooler lines 5:07 Step 8 - Remove ECU 6:18 Step 9 - Remove wiring harness 8:05 Step 10 - Disconnect driveshaft 9:13 Step 11 - Remove transmission mounts 9:32 Step 12 - Loosen engine mount nuts 10:07 Step 13 - Remove power steering pump 10:27 Step 14 - Remove clutch slave cylinder 10:54 Step 15 - Drain gas tank 11:51 Step 16 - Remove coolant and heater hoses 12:18 Step 17 - Start pulling the engine I recommend this as a good DIY project if you have some basic wrenching and electrical skills. All DIY repairs or modifications you perform to your car are made at your own risk. I assume no liability for anything you choose to do to your car, before, or after watching one of my videos.
