➡️ Well, this wasn't the late-'70s British punk I was expecting. "Why Can't I Touch It?" immediately grabbed me with this funky, almost rubbery bass line that basically becomes the backbone of the entire song while the guitars, vocals, and drums dance around it. It's simple without ever feeling empty, catchy without sacrificing the instrumental side of the band, and somehow feels both unmistakably old-school and surprisingly fresh. And maybe my favorite part is how much this song is allowed to just...breathe. No rush to get to the next hook, no fear of letting the band vamp for a couple minutes, just four musicians settling into a groove and letting it develop. Turns out the roots of pop punk go back a little further than I realized.
