One Day in London—We Crashed a Wedding for a Tower Bridge Photo

We had one evening and one full day in London. Somehow that was enough time to chase a Tower Bridge photograph, crash a wedding party, get locked inside the venue, walk six miles, and realize how little of this city we actually understood. After arriving by train from North Wales, we checked into The Clermont at Victoria, grabbed dinner at Market Halls, and headed toward Tower Bridge as the light faded. Jonathan found the photograph he wanted—but getting it involved walking through a wedding party as though we belonged there. We even made it onto the dance floor. Then we discovered someone had locked the gate behind us. The next morning, we set out to see as much of London as we could on foot: a full English breakfast, Buckingham Palace, Changing the Guard, St James’s Park, Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. London was big, beautiful, crowded, and far more intricate than we were prepared to absorb in one day. It left us with many more questions than answers—and with no idea that we would be back just a few weeks later. London is Episode Two of our first season: Eight Countries, Five Weeks.
