The Song Pilgrims Sang on the Road to Jerusalem | Psalm 121 – I Lift My Eyes

Psalm 121 — "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Walk with an old pilgrim and his grandson on the ancient road up to Jerusalem, singing the song that families sang for generations on this journey: the Lord who never sleeps, who watches over your going out and your coming in. 📖 About this psalm Psalm 121 is one of the fifteen "Songs of Ascents" (Psalms 120–134). Pilgrims sang them as they climbed the hills toward Jerusalem for the great feasts, when the whole family travelled together on foot (Deuteronomy 16:16; Luke 2:41–42). The hills could be dangerous, with heat by day and robbers by night, so the song answers the traveller's question, "where does my help come from?", with a promise: the Keeper of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. 🙏 Write your prayer request in the comments — we will pray with you. ⏱️ Chapters 0:00 I Lift My Eyes to the Hills 0:29 He Will Not Let Your Foot Be Moved 0:50 The Lord Is Your Keeper 1:32 Your Going Out and Your Coming In 1:56 The Lord Is Your Keeper 2:53 Up to Jerusalem We Go 3:08 From This Day and Forevermore 3:33 Outro 📜 Lyrics (inspired by Psalm 121) I lift my eyes up to the hills Where will my help come from My help is from the Lord above The Maker of the earth and sun He will not let your foot be moved He guards you on the way The One who watches over you Will never sleep by night or day The Lord is your keeper Your shade at your right hand By day the sun won't strike you By night in peace you stand He keeps your soul from every harm He holds you when you're weak Your going out, your coming in He guards each step you seek Up to Jerusalem we go Singing on the ancient road Every step a song of trust He carries every load The Lord is your keeper Your shade at your right hand From this day and forevermore Forever by His hand 📖 Original lyrics inspired by Psalm 121 (King James Version, public domain). 🎵 Music created with AI-assisted tools.
