I travelled to Nairobi expecting to learn about technology.
Instead, I discovered a city that challenged almost everything I thought I knew about ambition, creativity and what the future of African cities could look like.
Over the course of a week, I explored Nairobi's streets, rode through its infamous traffic, experienced the iconic Matatu culture, met founders, artists and innovators from around the world, ate everything from crocodile to ostrich, and had conversations that changed the way I think about Africa.
This isn't a travel guide.
It's a journey through one of the continent's most fascinating cities—seen through the eyes of a South African founder trying to understand what makes Nairobi different.
Along the way we explore:
• Why Nairobi's Matatus are more than just public transport
• The hustle culture that defines the city
• M-Pesa and Kenya's innovation ecosystem
• Nairobi vs Johannesburg
• The creative communities shaping the city's future
• What South Africans can learn from Kenya
If this documentary makes you see Africa a little differently, then it has done its job.
If you enjoyed the film, don't forget to like, subscribe, and share it with someone who's curious about where Africa is headed next.
