Highlights Bulldogs 5 - Chiefs 1 Oct.23.2026

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs got goals from 5 different skaters as they defeated the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs 5-1 Friday night. Gleb Semenov led the way on a 3 point night with a goal and 2 assists, while Richards Rutkis, Max Ly, and Arman Adamyan each had a goal and an assist. Grayson Salmon added a single, while Captain Grady Magner continued his hot run, adding a pair of helpers. “Special teams...” began Head Coach and GM Joe Martin post game when asked about what keys areas his club executed on to earn the victory. “A couple good penalty kills early in the game.” The Bulldogs neutralized both Chiefs man advantages, while striking twice with the extra attacker. Derik Brouillard made 29 saves to help his club earn their 4th straight win, while Noah Tegelaar kicked out 25 shots on 30 attempts in the Chiefs 4th straight loss. “Sound goaltending, you have to have a quality netminder in there, making it look easy.” praised Martin. Alberni Valley struck just a minute into the game, and led 1-0 after 20 minutes, but it stayed that way until the back half of the middle frame where the struck twice in 4 minutes to take a 3-0 lead to the third. A pair of power play markers put them up 5-0 before Ty Krooshoop spoiled the shut out bid with :45 seconds left to play. “We got the first goal early, but then it took a while to keep it going. We got better as the game went on, moved the puck quicker and had some offense piled on late.” The Bulldogs record improves to 7-4, and up next will face the 8-3 Spruce Kings, who have won their last 3 in a row. “Excited to play Prince George, they're a well put together team that's tough to play, one of the better clubs in the league. They play sound defensively, and have a couple forwards that can really score. We'll be ready to go.” Text Box Score: Chilliwack Chiefs 1 at Alberni Valley Bulldogs 5 - Status: Final Friday, October 23, 2026 - Alberni Valley Multiplex Chilliwack 0 0 1 - 1 Alberni Valley 1 2 2 - 5 1st Period- 1, Alberni Valley, Semenov 7 (Magner, Rutkis), 1:01.
