Unleash the Devil Boy┆Silent Vlog

Devil Boys keep appearing in my drawings. Mischievous and full of life, this character clearly wanted to leap off the page. So, I acquiesced. Finding a physical form for a ballpoint pen scribble of a trickster who's always in motion was a unique challenge. After a tough hatching from his cubic egg, my Devil Boy is out. He's cute and trickster-ish and ancient looking and I'm so proud. I'll make an edition of ten Devil Boy sculptures. One has already sold and will go to his new home when the concrete cures to its full strength (28 days). He'll come in a custom box and with a certificate of authenticity. ✂️SUPPLY LIST✂️ Armature (sculpting and casting): • aluminium foil, wire, and styrofoam are all good armature materials Sculpting • clay that doesn't air dry. I use Molding • 2-part silicone, a container for the mold, buckets, stirrers, scales, and gloves Casting: • quick-set concrete, buckets, stirrers, scales, mask, and gloves 🧵TECHNIQUE🧵 For those interested, the mold is a 'cut mold'. That means no seams are created when pouring the silicone, instead you carefully cut the sculpture out after the silicone has hardened. I opted in for this method over a multiple-part mold, because I expect the surface detail of the Devil Boy would be hard to capture at intentionally made seams.
