An insight look into what rubbish is collected by our infrastructure boys on Mangaia. Waste management especially in the pa enua needs a lot of attention. Our outer islands do not have the land and infrastructure to keep up with our current waste consumption habits. We need everyone to be on board to help reduce these waste pressures before our valuable land gets taken over by rubbish. Local businesses should consider making the switch away from plastic bottles to aluminum and glass drinking bottles. People to Refuse and Reuse plastic waste as much as possible and island governments to start prioritising waste as a problematic area that needs attention in awareness raising and the necessary infrastructure to collect and safety store recyclable waste (aluminum, tin, glass) and hazardous waste including whiteware.
