We started our trip at 5 AM from Cebu City, passing through scenic rice fields, mountains, and the sea until we reached Santander, the southernmost town in Cebu. Along the way, we stopped at Jollibee for some pasalubong, a Filipino tradition of bringing treats home to family. Once we arrived, the whole family gathered to prepare for two days of fiesta: Visperas (the first day) and Kahulugan (the actual feast day). Our fiesta food highlight? Lechon, the star of any Filipino celebration! We also enjoyed karaoke (or “videoke” as Cebuanos call it), laughter, and family bonding that truly makes the fiesta experience special. To top it off, I even had taho the next morning, a sweet childhood favorite that every Filipino knows and loves.
