Interview with Johnny Cohen - Director at the McEachern Art Center

In this episode we visit the McEachern Art Center in downtown Macon, GA to interview the director Johnny Cohen. Cohen is the Director of the McEachern Art Center and a professor of art at Mercer University. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and an MFA in Sculpture. Between his undergraduate and graduate studies, Cohen worked as a retail display artist, where he developed a strong interest in branding, visual presentation, and the perceived value of objects. This experience continues to inform his approach to exhibition-making. Cohen integrates these principles into his curatorial and studio practice, creating environments that are immersive and engaging. His work challenges the traditional, sterile conditions often associated with museums and galleries, positioning the viewer as an active participant rather than a passive observer.
