Built to last, powered by the sun On Saddle Lake Cree Nation land, a new kind of energy independence is taking root. This project - a partnership between ROCA Modular Homes and EVOLVsolar in support of the Wahkohtowin Society - brings clean, reliable solar power and battery storage to a First Nation Community. The installation delivers 54kW of DC solar and 27kWh of Tesla Powerwall battery storage across four modular homes and a central community building. Each home is equipped with a heat pump and roughly 8kW of solar, while the community building's battery backup gives the Nation a safe, powered place to gather during grid outages. More than an installation, this is energy security by and for the community: An estimated $445,875 in power bill savings over 30 years 37.6 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions reduced annually Greater self-sufficiency, resilience, and access to sustainable energy At EVOLVsolar, we work alongside Indigenous Communities from planning and design to funding and installation - building solutions that reflect each community's needs and vision.
