how I plan a painting ✿ thumbnails & brainstorming

In this video I begin sketching thumbnails for a future painting I will be working on as I explain my ideation and process with how I plan a painting. I use the technique of "thumbnailing" generating multiple ideas instead of one so I have more to chose as a final composition. Drawing and planning in my sketchbook always leads to more ideas and more success in my art, and I highly recommend utilizing the thumbnail method in developing future paintings and illustrations. Featured in these sketches are my two OC's (original characters) Strawberry Saul and Blueberry Bill, fantasy fruit themed cowboys who slay vampires for a living. They will be the main characters portrayed in the final painting, and I cannot wait to start it! I just need a bit more practice and sketches under my belt, so keep an eye out for more draw with me and sketchbook session style videos in the future!
