How the Internet Bullied Smash Mouth Into Eating 24 Eggs

In 2011, someone offered Smash Mouth's Steve Harwell $20 to eat 24 eggs. Then strangers started pledging money, making videos, and contacting him about the eggs. The request kept getting bigger. He still hadn't agreed. So why did he eventually say yes? This is the story of "Eat the Eggs," the Smash Mouth egg challenge: Jon Hendren's original offer on Something Awful, the internet's commitment to seeing the "All Star" singer go through with it, and a charity event involving Guy Fieri and an unreasonable amount of eggs. Featuring contemporary articles, Something Awful posts, fan-made videos, and event footage. #SmashMouth #EatTheEggs #InternetHistory SOURCES & ARCHIVAL MATERIAL Jon Hendren / Something Awful: https://www.somethingawful.com/news/s... https://www.somethingawful.com/news/s... https://www.somethingawful.com/news/s... https://www.somethingawful.com/news/s... https://www.somethingawful.com/news/s...
