Australia is building one of the world's most ambitious quantum computers at Moreton Bay, Queensland, backed by nearly a billion dollars in public funding.
PsiQuantum is taking a radically different approach, using photonic chips and light-based qubits designed to scale toward a million physical qubits.
The project combines semiconductor manufacturing, optical networking, and a massive cryogenic cooling system to create a utility-scale quantum machine.
If successful, it could transform drug discovery, advanced materials, energy systems, and even the future of internet encryption.
But with no large working machine publicly demonstrated yet, the Moreton Bay project remains one of the boldest—and riskiest—bets in the global quantum race.
