🌿 Hosgod Waterfalls, Honnavar | A Hidden Multi-Tier Waterfall in Uttara Kannada

Hidden deep within the lush forests of Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, lies Hosgod Waterfalls — a beautiful and relatively unexplored waterfall known mostly to the locals and a few passionate waterfall explorers. Our journey to Hosgod Falls took around 45 minutes to an hour, and the road is fairly manageable until the final stretch. The last 5 kilometres are quite rough and off-road, and during peak monsoon, this section can become challenging, so visitors should be prepared for difficult road conditions. Once you reach the riverside near Hosgod, there is a place where you can park your vehicle and begin the trek. Locals have also made a small wooden bridge across the stream, which you need to cross before starting the trail. The trek to the waterfall is approximately 3 kilometres one way, making it around 6 kilometres in total for the round trip. The first 2 kilometres follow a jeep trail, which is relatively straightforward. The final 1 kilometre, however, is where the real adventure begins. The trail enters the forest and winds through the greenery in a beautiful zigzag path. Along the way, you need to cross two water streams. The first crossing is relatively easy, while the second one is wider and can be a little tricky. Finding the correct trail while crossing the stream can also be confusing, so take your time and be careful. Interestingly, you can actually get your first glimpse of the waterfall from a distance after around 1.5 kilometres of trekking. As you get closer, the waterfall gradually reveals itself, and the final kilometre of the trail is absolutely beautiful. For me, this last stretch through the forest was one of the highlights of the entire trek — it genuinely felt like walking through a hidden paradise. Around 200 metres before reaching the main waterfall, you can also spot another beautiful waterfall flowing along the same stream. It is wider and quite impressive from a distance. After taking a quick look, we continued towards the main Hosgod Falls. And then came the moment we had been waiting for. ❤️ Hosgod Falls is quite different from many of the waterfalls I have visited in Karnataka. It is a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall, believed to have around six tiers, with water cascading through the rocky forest landscape. Standing in front of it after completing the trek was an amazing feeling. We spent around 30–45 minutes at the waterfall, enjoying the surroundings and taking in the beauty of this hidden gem before beginning our trek back. We returned with nothing but happy faces and beautiful memories. 🌿 Please Keep Hosgod Falls Clean One thing I noticed along the trail was plastic covers and bottles being thrown around in some places. It was honestly disappointing to see this in such a beautiful and relatively untouched location. Hosgod Falls is still mostly known to the local community and a small number of waterfall and nature lovers. Let's keep it that way. 🙏 A humble request to everyone visiting Hosgod Falls: Please do not throw plastic, bottles, food packets, or any other waste along the trail or near the waterfall. Whatever you carry into the forest, please carry it back with you.
