Intervista a Suor Laura Girotto durante il New York Encounter 2019

Suor Laura Girotto Laura Girotto, la quinta di sette figli, è cresciuta in un quartiere operaio a Torino (Piemonte, Italia). Con la sua passione per la moda, ha iniziato a lavorare in una prestigiosa casa di moda e si è laureata come stilista. Ma poi ha ricevuto la chiamata da ... "il Boss", mentre si riferisce a Dio. Contro i desideri della sua famiglia e dei suoi amici, ha voltato le spalle a una promettente carriera e si è unita alla congregazione delle suore salesiane di Don Bosco. È stata una decisione irrevocabile che le ha dato una vita non facile, ma è stata molto felice. Ha lavorato come missionaria in Egitto, Siria, Libano, Zaire e, nel 1993, è stata inviata ad Adwa nel Corno d'Africa. Ha ricevuto numerosi premi nazionali e internazionali per i suoi successi sul campo. With her passion for fashion, she started working in a prestigious fashion house and got her degree as a dress designer. But then she received the call from ... "the Boss," as she refers to God. Against the wishes of her family and friends, she turned her back to a promising career and joined the congregation of Don Bosco's Salesian Sisters. It was an irrevocable decision that has given her a life that wasn't easy, but it was very happy. She worked as a missionary in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Zaire and, in 1993, she was sent to Adwa in the Horn of Africa.
