It's been quite a while since I've made a C4D tutorial but I'm back in the latest version of Cinema 4D and it feels like I never left... Well, actually it feels hugely different from when I was last in there regularly but that's beside the point.. I was working on animating a logo and I came across a problem that I thought would be a good one to share.
I wanted to animate some extruded text with a plain effector and it took me a big of figuring out how to do it again as to make it work involves a few specific settings and a pretty important approach. So in my usual fashion I go on and explain everything around me until I reach the important point.
So in this video we cover:
How to animate text in Cinema 4D, bringing each letter to life one at a time using Plain and Delay Effectors along with Fracture Objects. It's supposed to be a quick tip but I still managed to get 10 minutes out of it. But hopefully it will help you in overcoming what I should imagine is a pretty common challenge of animating text letters individually instead of the whole word.
In this video, you'll discover:
Using Plain Effectors for dynamic control of text animation.
Creating 3D text with extrusions and refining your layout.
Leveraging Fracture Objects to isolate and animate individual letters.
Enhancing animations with Delay Effectors, including Blend and Spring modes.
Tips for procedural animation to save time and create flexible designs.
Caching MoGraph animations to ensure smooth playback during rendering.
Additional quick tips:
Reset your Cinema 4D workspace for efficient navigation.
Set your default scene to avoid starting with unwanted elements.
Organise effectors hierarchically for clean, predictable animation flow.
Whether you're a seasoned Cinema 4D user or just starting, this tutorial offers practical insights to make your animations smoother and more dynamic. Perfect for logo animation, motion graphics, or text-based storytelling.
