കേരളത്തിലെ ട്രെയിന്‍ യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്ക് ഇനി 'സൂപ്പര്‍ ഫാസ്റ്റ്' കാലം! തിരുവനന്തപുരം റെയില്‍വേ ഡിവിഷനില്‍ ട്രെയിനുകളുടെ വേഗത കൂട്ടാന്‍ വന്‍ നവീകരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളാണ് റെയില്‍വേ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 110 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ വേഗതയില്‍ ട്രെയിനുകള്‍ക്ക് കുതിച്ചുപായാന്‍ പാകത്തില്‍ ട്രാക്കുകള്‍ മാറ്റിയെഴുതുന്ന വലിയൊരു മേക്കോവറാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്. വളവുകള്‍ നിവര്‍ത്തിയും പുതിയ പാളങ്ങള്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചും യാത്രക്കാരുടെ കാത്തിരിപ്പ് സമയം കുറയ്ക്കാനൊരുങ്ങുകയാണ് റെയില്‍വേ. ട്രെയിനുകള്‍ക്ക് മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 110 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ വേഗത ഉറപ്പാക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു വര്‍ഷമായി ഡിവിഷനില്‍ യുദ്ധകാലാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ നടന്നു വരികയായിരുന്ന നവീകരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുടെ വിവരങ്ങളാണ് റെയില്‍വേ അധികൃതര്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ പുറത്തുവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. Indian Railways has completed major infrastructure upgrades to increase train speeds in the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division.
