We are at the tail end of a crazy heat wave and drought here at the farm. While we had hoped to be tending some fall crops already, we've shifted into reset mode for when the heat finally breaks - can't believe it's early September and we are still in a stretch of 100+ degree days! Even though Travis said "carrots" a bunch of times...guess what? When we posted the video, we still had not planted carrot seeds. With the super high temps, we felt the germination would be poor, so we are planning to get the seeds in ASAP once the heat wave breaks...more to come on that! In this video we are sharing our main "bed prep" steps. In other words, what do we do to get our garden beds ready for the next crop? In our practice, we do multiple crops per bed throughout the year, so in a future video, we'll show you how we transition beds from existing crops to new ones. But for now, we're showing a bed that has been resting. We've included time stamps and chapters in case you want to jump around to specific steps.
