Vintage Schwinn World Traveler First Look - Pretty Good For 70!

This is my recently acquired 1951 Schwinn World Traveler. I verified that this vintage 3 speed Schwinn was built on March 5, 1951 by researching the serial number. I bought it from the daughters of the recently passed away gentleman who had owned it since it was new, for $75.00 US. That makes me only the second owner of this classic steel bike! For a 70 year old bike, it is in very good shape. Like most vintage bikes of the era, it has a steel frame, steel fenders and steel rims. The graphics are a bit faded but after seven decades of use and storage, that is to be expected. The bike has a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub and shifter that still work. It also has an English Miller generator and light set that still work. All of the standard components are Schwinn branded. My plan for this bike is to service the mechanical parts and preserve everything else, rather than to do a full restoration.
