While it may not be intentional, the way they are used in some American comedy – including Smosh – is, at best, dubiously appropriate, and at times highly offensive (although in this instance, it’s at least a little bit self-aware). I cannot speak for all First Nations people, but I willn say that, when faced with items associated with a country whose history you have limited knowledge of, more care should be taken with both how you portray and use them and how you acquire them, as fraudulent international trades in Indigenous items prevent First Nations people and businesses from being properly compensated for producing their own items.
