Can I be a Snow-White Duck?

In urban and suburban wetlands, we occasionally come across white mallards. These birds probably carry white-feather genes introduced through domesticated ducks. In the wild, white plumage makes them more conspicuous and can put them at a disadvantage. But in urban environments, where the risk of predator attacks is often lower, they seem to thrive and even reproduce successfully. The other mallards don't seem to care at all that they're white, and neither do we. We treat them just like any other duck. Still, they're rare enough that whenever we spot one, it feels like discovering a hidden gem. This time, I decided to let Alex, my cockatiel whose color is wild-type, do the explaining! #ducklings #mallards #snowwhite #mitf #feather #genetics #duck #radiostation #cockatiel
