Crate Diggers - 50 - "Luchini AKA This Is It" by Camp Lo

Join Verbz, a DJ with over 20 years behind the decks, and his brother Steez, a lifelong music producer, as they dig through the crates and share records from their collections. On Episode 50, we pull out a DJ promo 12" of Camp Lo’s “Luchini AKA This Is It.” We dig into everything that makes this record so unmistakable, from Camp Lo’s overwhelming amount of style and one-of-a-kind slang to the incredible Ski Beatz production that gives the track its effortless, timeless bounce. Verbz also talks about his connection to Ski Beatz through DJing several shows with him and Curren$y, and we get into how Camp Lo created their own vocabulary, aesthetic, and world without ever sacrificing the pure feel-good energy of the music. More than anything, “Luchini” is just a vibe. Nearly 30 years later, it still sounds cool as hell. Before we put it away, we pull out what’s next: Snoop Doggy Dogg’s “Gin & Juice.” Whether you’re a Camp Lo fan, vinyl collector, DJ, producer, or just love classic hip hop, come hang out. 🎧 Meet Producer Jimmy Jimmy helps bring Crate Diggers to life, handling the visuals, audio, and production. We also record in his space. 📷 Instagram:   / jimmysjambox   👍 Like, Comment, and Subscribe for More Don’t miss future episodes.
