Instead, there is something else I want to talk about. Looking at the comments under the news, I noticed something that deserves serious reflection. Some people were laughing, while others were openly celebrating the news. There is a difficult reality we need to think about: Sinhala Buddhists cannot afford to undermine themselves from within. The bigger question is what the future holds for Buddhist influence, identity and heritage in Sri Lanka. We are facing a challenging situation, and these are issues that deserve serious discussion rather than division and hostility among ourselves. This is about thinking beyond individuals and considering the future of our community, our Buddhist heritage, and the role it will play in Sri Lanka.
