Road Trip to Kumaon, Day (19)…Munsiyari-Kausani. Our stay at KMVN Munsiyari was nothing short of wonderful! A spacious room, a sky so blue, And Panchachuli standing right in view! Snow-clad peaks, white clouds afloat, A Himalayan canvas, a memory to treasure and quote. At times, the clouds played hide-and-seek, Revealing the mountains, majestic and sleek. A sight so magical, so serene, Like a dream unfolding on a silver screen! We also met a lovely couple from Tripura, making our stay even more memorable. But the road was calling, new horizons in sight, And we were ready to roll, chasing the next delight! After breakfast, we bid Munsiyari goodbye, With no fixed destination beneath the open sky. Loharkhet and Vacham lingered somewhere in our mind, As Lalpari climbed, leaving the familiar behind. First came Betuli Dhar, at 9,000 feet high, With Panchachuli shining against the azure sky. A panorama so grand, a spectacle so rare, We stopped awhile, simply soaking in the mountain air. Then onwards to Kalamuni Top, at 9,500 feet, Where mountain roads and mighty peaks meet. A little temple stood at this lofty pass, While Panchachuli dazzled beyond the mountain grass. Beyond the pass, the road twisted and turned, Through lonely mountain stretches where the wild forests loomed. Steep descend, narrow bends, hardly a soul in sight, Just Lalpari and us, and the mountains dressed in white! And then, another wonder came into view — Birthi Waterfall, cascading in magnificent hues! A mighty 126-metre fall, thundering down the hillside, A short walk from the road, with nature in full stride. We paused to admire this spectacular sight, Another little treasure that made the journey bright! From there, we turned towards Shama, exploring the unknown, With Loharkhet, Liti or Kapkot as possibilities to roam. But daylight was fading, the mountains slipping into night, And unfamiliar roads called for a little foresight. So onward we drove through the gathering gloom, Past Bageshwar and Baijnath, with darkness assuming The winding roads, the valleys, the bends, Till Kausani welcomed us as the day drew to its end. A comfortable hotel, a room up on the second floor, And a Himalayan panorama waiting beyond the door! Snow-covered mountains stretched far and wide, A beautiful reward at the end of the ride. After dinner, we settled down for the night, With tomorrow’s sunrise already shining bright in our sight. Would the first golden rays set the white peaks aglow, As the sun rose majestically over the Himalayan show? Only the morning would reveal that view, Another day, another dream coming true! For the joy is not just in reaching a place, But in every winding road, every mountain embrace. No plans set in stone, no hurry to arrive — Just Lalpari, the open road, and the freedom to thrive!
