Akşehir, Turkey. A man lived here, and people still tell his stories. He was turned away from a hall in his working clothes. The name wasn't on the list. He went home, came back in a good coat, and they told him to go straight in. He held a plate up to the sleeve and said: eat. Eat, coat. He walked up the hill backwards, so that nobody was behind anybody. He lost a key in the dark and looked for it under the streetlight, because that is where he could see. In court, he told one man he was right—and then told the other the same. The clerk said they couldn't both be right. He told her she was right as well. He returned a borrowed pot with a small pot inside it, and said the pot had given birth in his kitchen. The owner took it. The next time, he said the pot had died. The owner had nothing to say. The market laughed. And then the square went quiet for about four seconds. Nobody has ever settled which part was the joke. He asked for a grave with a door and no walls. A good lock, the best you can get. Everybody who comes walks around the side. Every single one of them. And then they stand there and look at the door. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The first half is sung.
