Eighth Wonder or: Skull Island Disco Thunder '76 (Inspired by KING KONG)

"Eighth Wonder or: Skull Island Disco Thunder '76" AstroSkull Inspired by the motion picture KING KONG (1976) Welcome to Skull Island, where pounding island drums, '70s hard rock, and disco collide, because apparently being kidnapped from a Pacific island and taken to New York City wasn’t enough of a genre shift. Lyrics: Past the charts where the trade winds turn Where the black reefs wait and the sunsets burn There's a wall where the green world ends And the mountain mist never lifts again Through the palms comes a thunder below Something older than the names we know Every branch bends under his weight And the drums beat hard at the jungle gate No crown of gold No throne of stone Beyond that wall He reigns alone Hear the island shake beneath him Hear the ancient timber groan Every shadow moves to meet him Every path becomes his own He's the fury of the mountain He's the heartbeat underground You can bind him, you can take him But you cannot hold him down They came ashore with a hunger for oil Chasing fortune beneath the soil Saw a god and they saw a prize Put a chain around paradise Across the water, across the foam They dragged the king from his ancient home The distant shoreline fades from sight Bound for a world of steel and light Crowds await The curtains rise They brought him here To claim their prize Hear the city shake beneath him Hear the steel and concrete groan Every siren screams to meet him But he's searching for his home He's the fury of the mountain He's the heartbeat underground You can bind him, you can take him But you cannot hold him down No island wind between these walls No jungle moon above it all Only towers against the sky And frightened men who wonder why They wanted something none had seen Something wild upon a silver screen But wonder dies beneath the lights When hands of greed decide its price Hear the whole world fall beneath him As he climbs into the dawn One last giant above the skyline With the world he knew long gone He was fury, he was wonder He was thunder given form They could bind him, they could take him But they couldn't cage the storm Hear the island calling somewhere Past the cities, past the foam For the king they stole from darkness Who could never make it home Hear the island shake beneath him Hear the ancient timber groan Every shadow moves to meet him Every path becomes his own He's the fury of the mountain He's the heartbeat underground You can bind him, you can take him But you cannot hold him down He's the fury of the mountain He's the heartbeat underground You can bind him, you can take him But you cannot hold him down © AstroSkull | Major Hammy Records.
